It is new-ish, safe, I wouldn’t need to sell two cars to afford it and it is city car I can get behind because BRAAAAP and relatively fast.

Selling the Citroen and the Range Rover and getting a brand new 1.4 Audi A3 Sedan.
Selling only the Citroen and getting something Armored (Like the MINI)
Selling the armored Range Rover and getting something armored but newer (Like the MINI)

Depends. Is there a shipment of Italian gold passing through?

The one my family has is a 2010 S that used to be my mom’s that now belongs to my dad, and I can say in earnest, that I hate that thing. I don’t like the bucket seats as I think they are uncomfortable, I think the ride sucks because I can feel every bump on the road thanks to the sport suspension, mine is the four door Countryman model so it’s even more ugly. That’s not even counting the fact that despite being brand new, the clutch went ka-put at 40k, Why? Because the clutch that MINI put in the car was too weak for the engine and it ate it like nothing. I finally understood an important lesson, never buy a German car (yes I know that the MINI’s are still built in England, still, being owned by BMW means they’ve got no excuse.)
This is all just one biased, hate-filled, opinion of course. I don't know how good or bad the regular, older models, are.

Not reliable enough.

In that case avoid at all costs. You’ll be a number one suspect and will no doubt be endlessly harassed by the police. Shame really as they are great city runabouts and an armoured Mini is badass.

I own a 2004 Range Rover HSE and a Citroen with Air-Suspension, nothing will scare me. What I care about is: is it fun to drive?
![]() 09/07/2015 at 14:44 |

Yes, more reliable than a Mini also.

I like what they’ve done to the front bumper. It breaks it up a little from the drab looking previous one.
A mate has a BMW E46 M3 and he actually really likes how the Mini One drives.

A Mini with Class II-A armor? An amusing thought, but say goodbye to what performance it did have thanks to the added weight. Plus I’ve heard there’s reliability issues on some years.

III-A Actually, and it isn’t all that heavy, lots of composite parts and kevlar, a friend owns one and I can say it drives just like a normal Cooper S.

I don’t know, I mean I haven’t driven the thing, but both my parents enjoy/enjoyed it when they got the chance to let the thing corner and breath like it should. I just have bad experiences because the car just made me sore even after 20 minute trips anywhere and why I vowed to focus on comfort rather than speed and performance. But don't let my experience color your perceptions, if you want to go for it, go for it.

Eh, it’s your money man. I can’t really give good car buying advice - I own a ‘94 Buick Century, a 1998 Bonneville, and a ‘95 F150.

I have never driven on hard, but I like how it handles, comfort seems to be a problem.

That is actually very helpful, comfort is a factor for me, I won’t be able to drive this two hours a day with a sore back. I’ll look into it, thanks!

Sell both vehicles, most of your other possessions, and move somewhere safer???

They could do the same things...
From the couple of Oppos down there, it sounds like Brazil is a terrifying place to live.
Good luck.

Ye’, that was the main thing he liked the handling. Though his missus wants another Golf.

I’ve driven my mom’s 2005 JCW Mini Cooper S for over 6 hours straight without issue. My mom DDs it every day (yes, that is both redundant and repetitive) without problem and she’s 50. It’s one of those cars that’s pretty uncomfortable if you’re a passenger but totally fine if you’re actually driving. Maybe because its a joy to drive even at low speeds. I would test drive one and see what you think instead of listening to the advice of someone who never driven one. Just my two cents.
My only issue is that I think the newer Minis (like the one above) are kind of ugly, but if you’re looking at a 2008 that’s a non-issue. Also, I wouldn’t buy a regular Copper. The Cooper S is far more fun to drive and well worth the extra dough.

I've always wanted an armored car because of the novelty factor. I kind of feel like a dick thinking about how it is a necessity of daily life for those south of us.

As long as you keep the Citroen, anything goes. Although personally I prefer the C30.
A T5 is pretty quick, very safe (duh), and it’s certainly very stylish, although I’m not sure how common armoured examples are in your area (I’m presuming not very...) I do like the Mini though, and I haven’t heard any horror stories besides avoiding the first generation because of electrical and other interesting reliability issues...

Those engines are pieces of shit. So are the transmissions. And the door chime is fucking annoying. If you want a Mini, buy a pre-06 Supercharged S.

2008 is the most complained about year that Ive seen.
